The funeral service for Donald F. Franz will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel.

Donald died on Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. He was 77 years old.

Donald was born in Albert Lea on June 20, 1928, the son of Fred F. and Elsie (Ostrander) Franz. He was a graduate of Albert Lea High School.

While in high school Donald started working for KATE radio and continued as a radio announcer for many years. He was also part owner in KAUS radio station in Austin. He also had a love for operating ham radios and communicated with people around the world. He shared his talent by teaching children the operation of ham radios.

Donald enjoyed vegetable gardening and canning. He loved all kinds of music and at one time had a significant record collection.

Donald is survived by many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
