Jerome Hareid, 87, of Ellendale

The funeral service for Jerome P. Hareid, of Ellendale, will be held 10:30 a.m.
Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, at St. Aiden’s Catholic Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Thien Nguyen will officiate. Interment will be in First Lutheran Cemetery, Ellendale.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale, and one hour before the service at the church.
Jerome died on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at the New Richland Care Center. He was 87.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1918, in Albert Lea, the son of Clifford and Mary (Nobles) Hareid.
He attended school in Albert Lea.
Jerome worked at Kraft foods for a time before serving our country in the U.S. Army, in the Philippines during World War II.
While in the service he married
the love of his life Violet J.
Bakken. They were married Oct. 2, 1943, in Salina, Kan.
Upon his honorable discharge from the service, the couple lived in Minneapolis
until 1955 when they made their home on a farm near Ellendale.
For more than 30 years Jerome farmed and he also drove school bus for Ellendale Schools for more than 20 years. He loved to interact with the school kids.He retired and moved into Ellendale in the late 1980s.
Jerome loved to take car trips, listening to WCCO radio,
and spending precious time with his grandchildren.
Jerome is survived by two sons: Tom Hareid
of Ellendale, and Bob Hareid and his children, Alyssa, Andrew and Ashton, also of Ellendale. Also surviving is a brother, Howard Hareid and his wife Blanche of the Twin Cities; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Violet, in 1981; sisters: Katherine Meyer and Dorothy Glasser; and brothers: Louis and Clifford Hareid.
