Marlin Lovik, 75, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Marlin H. Lovik, age 75, of Albert Lea, will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2005, at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in the Salem Memorial Cemetery, rural Lake Mills, Iowa. Military honors will be accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen s Organizations. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a Masonic Service at 7 p.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Marlin died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Marlin Hilman Lovik was born Feb. 13, 1930, to Melvin E. and Opal J. (O’Rourke) Lovik in Winnebago County, Iowa. He graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1949. On August 4, 1951, Marlin was united in marriage to Norris Joan Lockrem at the Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. The couple has resided in Albert Lea since 1959. Marlin was employed as a lab technician at ALMCO. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Western Star Lodge #26 (past master), Southgate Council #15, Royal Arch Masons #30, Apollo Commandery #12, Scottish Rite Valley of Rochester, Albert Lea Shrine Club (past president), Osman Temple, American Legion, VFW, Elks, and the Sons of Norway Normanna Lodge. Marlin enjoyed spending time with his wife, Norris, children, and grandchildren. The couple also enjoyed spending winters in Apache Junction, Ariz.

Survivors include his wife, Norris; children: Nancy and Jamie Kyllo of Albert Lea, Mark and Mae Lovik of Moorhead, and Brian and Sandy Lovik of Austin; grandchildren: Amy and Aaron Ladlie of Albert Lea, Brian Kyllo of Emmons, Kristin Kyllo of Minneapolis, Jennifer Lovik of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Sarah Lovik of Fargo, N.D.; great-grandchildren: William Ladlie and Jack Ladlie, both of Albert Lea; special niece, Sharon Kinden of Columbia, Mo.; brother-in-law, Magnus Lockrem of San Leandro, Calif.; aunt, Evelyn Beenken of Albert Lea; and nieces and nephews.

Marlin was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin and Opal Lovik; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Nels and Celia Lockrem; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Byron and Florence Lockrem, Marlys and Allan Thoe, Ardell and Oliver Larson, and Arlene and Chuck Van Cott; and special nephew, Skip Kinden.
