Walter Schultz, 99, Alden

Funeral services for Walter F. Schultz, age 99, of Alden, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8,
at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Peter Soli will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Walter died Tuesday, October 4, 2005, at his home in Alden.
Walter F. Schultz was born Nov. 9, 1905, to Otto and Elizabeth (Wille) Schultz in Ackley, Iowa. He attended school in Ackley and Alden. On Dec. 23, 1931, Walter was united in marriage to Cora Millhouse. He did custom baling and had a cream route. Walter also owned the Alden Recreation Parlor.
In 1949, the couple began farming and continued until their retirement in 1981 when they moved into Alden. Walter’s life revolved around farming and then gardening after his retirement.
He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and had been on the Alden Elevator Board and the Carlston Township Board.
Survivors include his wife, Cora; his son, Gerald “Jerry” Schultz; grandchildren: Ronald and his wife Terri Schultz, Linda and her husband Wayne Nelson, and Jackie Schultz; and great-grandchildren: Reece, Jason and Katya, and Garrett and Gradon.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Albert and Carl; and sister, Catherine Bailey.
