Shirley Lura, 79, Bricelyn

Shirley A. Lura, age 79, of Bricelyn, died on Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth from complications of a stroke.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2005 at Bricelyn Lutheran Church at 10:30 a.m. with The Rev. Pat Hinkie and The Rev. Ed Nieman Officiating. Burial will be in Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery. There will be visitation at the Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.

Shirley was born on Feb. 10, 1926 in Wells, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Wilder) Akemann.

She graduated from Wells High School in 1944. She married Harold E. Lura on September 16, 1950 in Bricelyn. She was a lifelong resident of the Wells and Bricelyn area. She was a member of the Bricelyn Lutheran Church. She enjoyed crafts, baking, reading and especially being with her family.

She is survived by husband Harold of Bricelyn, three children: daughter Diane and husband David Jacobson of Bricelyn, son Donald Lura of Mitchell, SD, daughter Renae and husband Steven Jelle of Lakeville, six grandchildren: Ben Jacobson, Annie Jacobson, Mandy Jacobson, Thea Lura, Bailey Jelle and Max Jelle; one great-grandchild: Madelyn Jacobson; sisters: Evelyn Iverson of Albert Lea, Darlene Pyzick of Wells, Marcy Babcock of Wells, Joanne Dahl of Babbitt, Minn.; brothers: Leroy (Bud) and wife Jackie Akemann of Waco, Tex., Alvin and wife Mary Akemann of Babitt; sisters-in-law: Elna Lura of Bricelyn, Freda Bluhm of Braham, Minn. Audrey and husband Rex Clay of Bricelyn, Bea Lura of Wells; one aunt Adeline Betchwars of Mankato; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son Wayne, brothers Clarence, Romain and Keith Akemann and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
