Sidney Tull, 53, Clarks Grove

Sidney Larkin Tull, age 53, of Clarks Grove, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 30, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. Sidney was born June 4, 1952, at the United States Naval Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Kenneth Warren and Dorothy Lorene (Garner) Tull. He attended school in Texas, graduating from Flour Bluff High School. After graduation, he served with the United States Army until his discharge on March 26, 1970. On June 7, 1975, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Ratigan at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Hastings, where Sidney taught computer classes at Unisys and several local Vo-Tech schools. He also authored a computer-training manual for Unisys. Phyllis died on July 12, 1993, and in 1995, Sidney returned to Texas. In the spring of 2002, Sidney returned to Minnesota and settled in Clarks Grove. While living in Clarks Grove, he worked as a counselor at Gerard Treatment Center in Austin. He was a member of Oakland Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Basswood Grove, rural Hastings. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his cat “Spooky.”
Survivors include, one brother, Tyler (Patty) Tull and his family, Kelli (Robbie) Waldrop, Haley Tull and Katie Tull all of Cleburne, Texas; a half-sister, Barbara Lou Paschal of Albuquerque, New Mexico; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kay (Howard) Smeby of Hudson, Wisconsin, Cletus (Peggy) Ratigan and JoAnn (Allen) Olson all of Austin; two nieces, Sarah (Mike Martin) Smeby and Kelly (Scott) Oliver; two nephews, Mark (Melissa) Ratigan and Rich (Maria) Olson; two great nieces, Emily Oliver and Jenica Olson; also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Dorothy Tull; and his wife, Phyllis on July 12, 1993; and parents-in-law, Francis and Angie Ratigan.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Oakland Lutheran Church, with the Rev. LaDonna Ekern officiating. Interment will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Cemetery, Basswood Grove, rural Afton. Visitation in Austin will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 4 at the Worlein Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. There will also be a visitation from 2 to 3 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5 at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Basswood Grove, rural Afton, prior to the interment service.
