Timothy Westland, 46, Dubuque, Iowa

Funeral services for Timothy E. Westland, 46, of Dubuque, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 14, 2005, at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Tim died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005, in Dubuque, Iowa.

Timothy Elton Westland was born Sept. 1, 1959, to Earl and Carol (Arneson) Westland in Albert Lea. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1977 and from the University of Minnesota &045; Waseca in 1980 with an associate degree in applied science, horticultural technology.

Tim worked at Green Lea Golf Course in Albert Lea and was the golf course superintendent and instrumental in building Prairie View Golf Links in Worthington.

In 1984, he moved to Dubuque to become the golf course superintendent at Thunder Hills Golf and Country Club. Tim was contracted to build the baseball field depicted in the movie, &8220;Field Of Dreams.&8221; He earned the title of Certified Golf Course Superintendent in 1987 and in 1989 was named &8220;Superintendent Of The Year&8221; for the State of Iowa. In 1999, Tim became co-owner and superintendent at Timberline Golf Course in Peosta, Iowa.

On Nov. 30, 1991, Tim was married to Lisa Jane Dougherty in Dubuque.

He enjoyed being with his son, Garrett, hunting, competitive fishing, golfing, and NASCAR racing. Tim was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dubuque and the Dubuque Walleye Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa Westland, and son, Garrett Thomas Westland, both of Dubuque; his mother, Carol Westland of Albert Lea; sister, Linda (David) Wallner of Orono, Minn.; brothers, Steven (Diane) Westland, Stanley Westland, and twin brother, Thomas (Susan) Westland, all of Albert Lea; nieces and nephews, Leah Walker, Chad Walker, Nathan Walker, Jennifer Westland, Wade Westland, Carrie (Matt) Rodgers, Michael Westland, Sarah (Reid) Olson, and Tara Westland; and aunts; cousins; and many friends.

Tim was preceded in death by his father, Earl Westland; his grandparents, Edward and Anna (Runden) Westland and Harry and Alice (Jensen) Arneson.

Tim was a very kind and caring man and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed by friends and family, his mother, and sister and brothers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Tim Westland Memorial Fund, Albert Lea.
