Virgil Anderson, 75, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Virgil Lee Anderson, age 75, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery, with military honors provided by the Freeborn County Veteran’s Organizations.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Virgil died Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.
Virgil Lee Anderson was born May 11, 1930, to William and Hazel (Curtis) Anderson in Buffalo Center, Iowa. He attended school in Lake Mills and Albert Lea. Virgil served in the United States Army Air Force from 1948 to 1949.
On July 4, 1949, he was united in marriage to Marjorie Page in Albert Lea. Virgil was employed at Smith-Douglas and then drove truck for Ellsworth Truck Lines and Albert Lea Transfer before operating his own trucking business.
He began working for the City of Albert Lea in 1971, for the street department and then at the waste treatment plant, retiring in May 1992.
Virgil was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Eagles. He enjoyed playing pool, bowling, playing poker, and fishing.
He loved to dance, roller skate and spend time teasing and playing with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; children: Charlotte Anderson, Carolyn and husband, Mark Brenegan, Daniel and wife, Bonnie Anderson, and Vickie Lampman, all of Albert Lea; 6 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers and sisters: Janet Olson of Willington, Ill., Bill Anderson of Albert Lea, Mary Pearson of Sacramento, Claif., Curtis and wife, Bonnie Anderson of Glenville, and Dennis and wife, Joan Anderson of
Albert Lea.
Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters: Violet Svendson, Doris McCarty, Maxine Campbell, Darrell Anderson, Paul Anderson, and Gary Anderson; and one great-grandchild, Whitney.
