William Ellis, Sr., 70, Albert Lea

The memorial service for William A. &8220;Bill&8221; Ellis, Sr., of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Richard Spande will officiate. There will be no visitation or reviewal.

Bill died on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005, at his home. He was 70. He was born on April 9, 1935, in Bemidji, the son of Claude Lloyd and Mabel Mildred (Zimmer) Ellis.

He attended Lincoln Elementary School in Bemidji, graduated from Bemidji High School and attended Bemidji State University.

Bill was united in marriage to Marjorie Irene Kjolberg on May 21, 1960, in Detroit Lakes.

He had been a drummer in several bands, worked for Tomlinson Lumber in Calloway, Wilcox Lumber in Waubun, and Weyerhauser in Albert Lea until it closed in 1982. He was later self employed as a painter. He and Marjorie worked together painting for more than 20 years before retiring.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and the Fountain Lake Sportsmen’s Club. Bill enjoyed fishing, woodworking in his cranky ol’ workshop, reading, was a &8220;Take a Kid Fishing Day&8221; volunteer, and was active in Senior Citizens/ARC.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie Ellis of Albert Lea, daughter Michelle York of Virginia, grandchildren: Tori Larson and her unborn child due in March, Caitlin Stern, Nicole Stern, Ryan Stern; brother Claude Ellis and wife Yvonne of Stillwater; sisters: Genevieve Toftum of Bemidji, Marilyn Larsen of Albert Lea, mother-in-law Marian Kjolberg of Mahnomen; brothers-in-law: Rodney and Cheryl Kjolberg of Waubun, Robert and Shirley Kjolberg of San Francisco, Calif., Chuck Leonard of Crookston; special friend Shirley Stone, nieces, nephews, cousins and many good fishing buddies.

He was preceded in death by his parents Claude and Mabel Ellis, son William Ellis, Jr., April 1999, nephew Donald Larsen, sister-in-law Ginger Leonard, brother-in-law Russell Kjolberg, and father-in-law Robert Kjolberg.
