Elizabeth McKinney, 86, of Albert Lea

Memorial services for Elizabeth (Liz) Allman McKinney, of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Interment will be in Lakewood Cemetery.

Mrs. McKinney died Wednesday morning at the Thorne Crest Retirement Center in Albert Lea. She was 86 years of age.

Elizabeth was born Sept. 9, 1919 in Sheboygan, Wis., the daughter of Harold and Jean (Trine) Allman. She grew up and graduated from Sheboygan High School. In June of 1942 she was united in marriage to Robert McKinney. From 1942 through 1945 she and Robert lived in Victorville, Calif., while Robert Was in the Air Force.

In 1945 she moved with Robert to Kalamazoo, Mich. There she was a leader in the Girl Scouts and was an active member and volunteer for the First Congregational Church. Liz also enjoyed playing golf and bridge.

In 1974 they moved to Albert Lea, where she became a member of the First Presbyterian Church and volunteered in many capacities. Liz also kept up with her bridge game and enjoyed watching her grandsons play hockey. She also liked to spend time at Helmer Myre State Park.

Elizabeth was a beloved wife, mother and friend to many. She always enjoyed family gatherings and getting together with friends. Her husband Robert preceded her in death.

She is survived by her sister Barbara Schott, of Sheboygan, Wis. Her children, Barbara Banhagel, of Olympia, Wash., Martha Engels, of Kalamazoo, Mich., Steve McKinney, of Albert Lea, Dave McKinney of Stillwater, Minn. Elizabeth is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Memorials preferred to the Albert Lea High School Blue Line Club or the Alzheimer’s Association.
