The funeral service for Eugene G. &8220;Gene&8221; Beenken of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, at Salem Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Jay Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.

Eugene died on Friday, Dec. 2, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. He was 93.

He was born May 1, 1912, on the family farm south of Lakota, Iowa.

As a young man he worked as a farmhand, a mechanic, and a truck driver.

He was united in marriage to Evelyn M. O’Rourke on April 24, 1942, in Northwood, Iowa. After their marriage they made their home in Albert Lea. Eugene started working at Wilson/Farmstead, and remained there until his retirement.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Evelyn; son Greg and wife Jeanette; grandson Logan Beenken; granddaughter Kelly Dempewolf and husband Casey; two great-grandchildren, Mallory and Markus; sister Elizabeth Edwards; and brother Heiko Beenken and wife Mary.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Barbara Reichl; three brothers; one sister; five half-brothers; and one half-sister
