JM just gets by Tiger swimmers

ALBERT LEA &045; Four individual victories were not quite enough to get the Albert Lea boys’ swim team past Rochester John Marshall Tuesday night.

The Tigers suffered an 89-83 team setback, but still managed several solid efforts in the pool.

The 200 medley relay team of Matt Van Fossen, Ben Schreiber, Chris Dorman and Josh Anderson continued to fly through the water taking the top spot in 1:53.91.

Anderson was first to the wall in the 50 freestyle winning the sprint by just over a tenth of a second with a time of 24.33, while Van Fossen was the only swimmer to break one minute, easily winning the 100 butterfly with a mark of 59.86. Anderson added a runner-up finish in the 100 free with a time of 54:89.

Schreiber was equally dominant in the 100 breaststroke coming to the wall in 1:06.00 which was eight seconds faster than teammate Jordan Elleby who took second.

Schreiber would add a second place finish in the 200 individual medley with a mark of 2:12.83.

The Tigers also had second place finishes in the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.
