Leon Toenges, 87, of Alden

Leon F. Toenges, age 87, of Alden, died on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Concordia Lutheran Church of Pickerel Lake, with the Rev. Donald Rose officiating. Visitation will be held at Concordia Lutheran Church from 3 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 26, and one hour prior to services at church on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Concordia Lutheran Cemetery in Pickerel Lake Township, Freeborn County. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is in charge of arrangements.
Leon F. Toenges was born Aug. 9, 1918, the son of William and Marie &8220;Mary&8221; (Steele) Toenges in Alden. He married Linda Schmidt on Aug. 15, 1937, in Mansfield.
Leon farmed until 1968 then worked at Streater in Albert Lea until his retirement. He was a lifelong member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Pickerel Lake and enjoyed woodworking and refinishing furniture.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Toenges of St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea; one son: Daryl and his wife Jean Toenges of Young America, Minn.; one daughter: Annette and her husband David Johnson of Albert Lea; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Loline, and twin grandsons in infancy.
