Manville Hagen, age 88, of rural Twin Lakes

Funeral services for Manville T. Hagen, age 88, of rural Twin Lakes will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at the Lunder Lutheran Church. The Rev. Tammy Dahlvang will officiate. Interment will be in the Lunder Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the Church.

Manville died Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Manville Truman Hagen was born May 21, 1917, to Gilbert T. and Nora R. (Oppegaard) Hagen in Pickerel Lake Township. He was baptized and confirmed at Lunder Lutheran Church. Manville attended country school and graduated from Albert Lea High School. In 1937, he began working as a hired hand for the Duffys and later took over their farm after they passed away. On July 30, 1955, Manville was united in marriage to Irma B. Scherb at Concordia Bear Lake Church. The couple had celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary last summer.

He was an active member of Lunder Lutheran Church and had been on the Church Council. Manville was a farmer all his life and enjoyed woodworking. He also played the guitar in his younger years. After retiring, Manville began making spinning wheels as a hobby. He had planted hundreds of pine trees on the farm and turned some of his land back into wild life areas. Manville especially enjoyed visiting with family and friends and playing whist.

Survivors include his wife, Irma; many nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Martin and his wife, Mabel Scherb and Paul and his wife, Adeline Scherb; and sisters-in-law, Phyllis Scherb and Janet Scherb.

Manville was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Paul, Bert, Norman, Hans, and William; sister, Myrtle Olson; and brothers-in-law: Julius Scherb, Eldo Scherb, and Lucas Scherb.
