Mathias Thimmesch, 87, of Ellendale

Funeral services for Mathias Thimmesch, age 87, of Ellendale will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Aidan’s Catholic Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Thien Nguyen will officiate.
Interment will be in the St. Aidan’s Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Freeborn County Servicemen’s Organizations. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Mathias died Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at the Albert Lea Good Samaritan Center.
Mathias F. Thimmesch was born Dec. 16, 1917, to Karl C. and Martha (Tartark) Thimmesch in Freeborn. He attended school in Freeborn. Mathias served in the United States Army during World War II. On May 8, 1945, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth (Betty) Schmidt in Owatonna. The couple farmed in the Hollandale area for a few years before buying farmland near Geneva, where for 48 years they have lived in the home he built. Mathias was also employed at Queen Stove Works. He was a member of St. Aidan’s Catholic Church and the VFW and a Life Member of the D.A.V.
Survivors include his wife, Betty; children: Catherine Peschon of Emmons, Lorna and husband, Kevin Gray of Minneapolis, Charles and wife, Paula Thimmesch of Glenville, Larry and wife, Kristina Thimmesch of Hubertus, Wis., and Colleen and husband, Tim Thome of Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren: David and wife, Hyun Sun Peschon, Anita and husband, Allen Miller, Lisa and husband, John Taylor, Jeania and husband, Mark Hassel, Christopher John and wife, Heather Peschon, Kristine Peters, Jerry and wife, Jackie Raditch, Jeff Raditch, Patty and husband, Tad Cornelius, Bruce and wife, Gina Thimmesch, Cheryl Thimmesch, Mark and wife, Kelly Thimmesch, Jennifer and husband, Adam Hooten, Brian Thimmesch, Amanda Thome, Michael and wife, Chelsea Thome, Merrisa and husband, Vincent Buffum, and Mitchel Tohmi; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Hy C. Thimmesch; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mathias was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Wayne Peschon; great-granddaughter, Machala; brother, Robert Thimmesch; and sister, Dorothy Lawrence.
