NC-NK opens season with a pair of dual wins

The NC-NK wrestling team experienced two different extremes in a pair of duals Tuesday night.

The team held off a late rally by Mason City Newman in the first dual to win 35-30 before blasting Nora Springs-Rock Falls 67-6 to conclude the night.

Michael Bachtle got NC-NK off to a good start against Newman with a technical fall at 152 over Will Arnold to put his team up 5-0.

Newman would win the next three matches before Ben Miller came away with a 7-3 decision at 215 to bring NC-NK within four.

John Coyle and Eric Horstman would record back-to-back pins at 275 and 103, respectively, before Jon Overy received a forfeit at 112 to put NC-NK up 26-12.

NC-NK would not trail in the dual again picking up pins from Jordan Reindl and an 11-5 decision from Zach Willis at 140.

NS-RF would win the first match of its dual with NC-NK thanks to a Cole Heimer pin, but those were the only points the Eagles would get.

Miller, Coyle, Overy, Reindl, Tim Benjegerdes, Kory Ferden, Willis and Bachtle all recorded pins for

NC-NK in the dual.
