Rebels split a pair at the Lewiston-Altura Tourney

LEWISTON &045;&160;The United South Central boys’ basketball team got its season started with a split of two games at the Lewiston-Altura Tournament over the weekend.
The Rebels downed the host school 52-49 behind 16 points from Chris Yost.
The Rebels overcame a four point halftime deficit largely with good free throw shooting in the final half going 8-of-11 at the charity stripe.
Derek Schmidt added 10 points and both Eric Youngbloom and Simon Christensen netted nine points apiece in the game.
Against Kenyon-Wanamingo, the Rebels fell behind by eight at the break and could not cut much into that deficit falling 57-51.
USC had trouble on the boards as it was outrebounded 30-26 in the game.
Schmidt scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the first half, while Youngbloom scored all 11 of his in the second half.
Yost put in seven and Jordan Stenzel added six.
The Rebels are back in action tonight when they host St. Peter.
