For the third year, Riverland Community College hosted a student contest to select an illustration to grace the front of the College holiday card. Riverland student Steve Mullenbach’s (Mapleview) illustration in pencil was selected as the winner of the contest. Mullenbach received a $100 honorarium.
The contest was open to all Riverland art students enrolled in studio classes such as drawing, cultural arts and painting. Designs were submitted from last year’s students, as well as current-year students.
The academic affairs division selected finalists from the contestants, and the winner was determined using input from various Riverland employees and students.
“This contest is a great way to involve our students,” said Terry Leas, Riverland Community College president. “It gives them a unique opportunity to showcase their skills and the high quality of our fine arts programs.”
The cards will be used by various divisions of the College to extend holiday greetings to friends, supporters and other stakeholders of Riverland Community College.
Riverland Community College a member of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System, is a two-year comprehensive technical and community college annually offering more than 4,000 students a wide range of credit-based educational opportunities to enhance personal growth and community vitality.
