Ellsworth Jackson, 81, formerly of Austin

Ellsworth H. (Jack) Jackson, age 81, formerly of Austin, died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Falls Good Samaritan Center in International Falls.

He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in International Falls, to Herbert and Gladys (Cronkite) Jackson. He graduated from Falls High School in International Falls and served in the United States Navy as a Petty Officer First Class during World War II and the Korean War. After the Navy, he worked as a insurance salesman for Western Southern Life Insurance Company in California and Iowa. Prior to retiring, Ellsworth and his wife Betty owned and operated the Steer Tuck Stop and Restaurant in Austin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Jan. 16, at 11 a.m. at Oakland Lutheran Church with the Rev. LaDonna Ekern officiating. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Oakland. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Monday at the church one hour before the service. Music will be by Sheldon Gaard.

He is survived by his sons: James (Panetta) Jackson of International Falls, Roger (Sara) Jackson of Charleston, S.C., daughter: Anna (Bill) Mlynski of Tampa, Fla., grandchildren: James Christopher Jackson, Melissa Smith, Margaret Ann Nestlcrode, and Roger Jackson II, great grandchildren: Brooke, Kyle, and Collin, special aunt: Lulu Rolf of Austin, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Jean (Wood), second wife Betty (Wangen), and granddaughter Kelly McBride.

Memorials are preferred to Oakland Lutheran Church.
