Lee Parrish, 65, Albert Lea

Memorial services for Lee J. Parrish, 65, of Albert Lea will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin. Interment will be in the Hollandale cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post 91. Friends may call one hour before the service.
Lee died unexpectedly Friday, Dec. 30 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Lee was born Oct. 21, 1940 in Albert Lea to Jacob VanderVoort and Minnie (Van Peuersem) VanderVoort. He grew up in Freeborn County then enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany. Lee farmed for a few years while attending the University of Minnesota and retired after a career in the U.S. Postal Service.
Lee enjoyed sports, history and geography. He patrolled the Berlin Wall in Germany and graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in political science. He received a letter of commendation from the U.S. Postal Service for not using any sick leave in 1990.
Lee is survived by brother Everett W. (Janice) VanderVoort, Austin; brother-in-law Clayton Stoa, Austin; nephews Roger (Carla) Stoa, Austin, James
(JoAnne) Stoa, Whittier, Calif., Dean (Yvonne) Stoa, Rushford, Minn., Charles (Holly) Stoa, Blue Earth, Kevin (Missy) Stoa, Polk City, Iowa; niece Kristine (Lynn) Allas, Lansing, Minn. and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Darlene Stoa; nephew Brian Stoa and infant sister Christina.
Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army of Freeborn County.
