Mary Nordby, 90, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Mary Ringoen Nordby, of
Albert Lea, will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, 2006, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.
Mary died
Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Center, Albert Lea. She was 90 years old.
Mary was born June 30, 1915, in Norman, Iowa, to
John and Betsy (Vaale) Madson. She graduated from eighth grade Country School near Norman, Iowa. She lived on a farm near Glenville, and moved to Albert Lea in 1965. Mary was married to Don Ringoen for 30 years. After his death she married Arnold Nordby for 16 years. Mary was a member of Round Prairie Lutheran Church where she belonged to the choir, taught Sunday School and belonged to the Ladies Aid. She became a member of First Lutheran Church when she moved to Albert Lea
and was a member of their church circle. In 1948 Mary and her husband owned and operated the Royal Caf and Restaurant. For many years, Mary worked for St. John’s Lutheran Home in the Dietary Services Area. Mary was a member of the Eagles and the American Legion Auxiliary. Mary enjoyed playing cards, dancing and gambling. She was
family oriented. Mary especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her children: son: Duane Ringoen, of Sioux Falls, S.D., daughter: Sharon
Johnson and her husband Don E., of Albert Lea, son: Terry Ringoen and his wife Jeanette, of Albert Lea, son: Richard Ringoen and his wife Coral of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Todd Johnson, Lyndon Johnson and his fiance Linda, Deb Akemann and her husband Jim (J.B.), Lori Zuniga and her husband Arnold, Nicole
Cole and her special friend Aaron, Jeremy Ringoen and his wife Christine and Treavor Ringoen all of Albert Lea; 18 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, husbands Don Ringoen and Arnold Nordby, five brothers and one sister: Malmin, Sylvan, Mable, James, Tom and Palmer; granddaughter: Shelia Johnson.
