Ina Johnson, 92, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Ina Mildred Johnson of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Ina died on Monday evening at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She was 92 years of age.

Ina was born March 29, 1913, in Pequot Lakes, the daughter of Carl and Christine (Pederson) Bure. She was united in marriage to James Johnson who preceded her in death in 1972. Ina was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was active in the Altar Guild, Bible study and enjoyed making lefse every year for Holidays Ahead.

Ina was employed for over 29 years at Boyd and Jack’s Grocery in the meat department, and was a member of the Sons of Norway. She enjoyed playing bridge, baking, spending time with her family and friends, and her pet dog Meca.

Ina was a resident of Senior Court for 27 years, and enjoyed planting and watering the flowers around the buildings.

Ina is survived by her son Jon and his wife Carol Johnson of Albert Lea; son-in-law Russell Rupe and his special friend Claudia Howell of San Antonio, Texas; daughter-in-law Jolene Johnson of Albert Lea. There are 11 grandchildren; Laurie (Ray) Mechler, Steven (Jill) Rupe, Valerie (Roger) Stone, Ina Spain, Matt (Riki) Johnson, Mark (Jenny) Johnson, Kelly (Mike) Feuerhak, Cory Johnson and Scott Johnson, Brian (Paula) Hanson, Gary (Janet) Hanson. There are 21 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Eva Hulbert of New Richland, Amy Struyk of Austin, Leah Olson of Glenville, and one brother, Ed Bure of Austin.

Ina was preceded in death by her parents; husband James; two daughters, Rosella Rupe and Jean Johnson; one son David Johnson; and three brothers Jasper, Albert and Carl Bure.
