Pearl Lair, 87, of Emmons

Funeral services for Pearl B. Lair, age 87, of Emmons will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at the Church of St. Theodore. Father Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday with a prayer service at 6:30 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home.

Visitation continues one hour prior to the services at the Church.

Pearl died Thursday, February 9, 2006, at her home in Emmons.

Pearl B. Lair was born April 1, 1918, to Nicholai Lofthus and Lila (Nagel) Lofthus Jensen.

She attended Emmons schools.

On Oct. 11, 1941, Pearl was united in marriage to William Webster Lair at the Church of St. Theodore.

She was a life-long resident of the area and had been the owner/operator of the Corner Cafe in Emmons.

Pearl had also been a part of Lynn’s Cakes and Catering and was lovingly known as the &8220;CEO&8221; and &8220;Head Bun Baker.&8221; She was a member of St. James Catholic Church, Emmons Legion Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Rochester, and a charter member of the Emmons Bunco Group.

Survivors include her children William &8220;Bill&8221; and wife, Judy, of LaCrescent, John and wife, Pam, of Rochester, David and wife, Bonnie of Albert Lea, Rosemary and husband, Jerry Harris of Mantorville, Paul and wife, Lynette Lair of Albert Lea, Robert &8220;Bob&8221; and wife Linda Lair of Lake Mills, Lynn and wife, Donna Lair, also of Lake Mills, and Joseph &8220;Joe&8221; and wife, Diane, of Emmons; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Verliss and husband, James &8220;Pat&8221; Lair of Albert Lea and Darlene and husband, Kenneth Lee of Morganton, Ga., and step-sisters, Marion and the late &8220;Bo&8221; Gooden of Emmons and Lillian and husband, Roy Carlson of Glenville.

Pearl was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Ernest Jensen; husband, Webster; brother, Lauren in infancy; grandsons, Christopher Lair and Ryan Lair; and daughter-in-law, Linda (Benson) Lair.
