Charlotte Alvey, 83

Funeral services for Charlotte M. Alvey will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 17, at the Hollandale Reformed Church. The Rev. Mark Volkers will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at the Hollandale Cemetery. Charlotte passed away Sunday afternoon, March 12, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center. She was 83 years old.

Charlotte was born on Aug. 13, 1922, in Albert Lea and was a lifelong resident of Hollandale and Freeborn County. She was the oldest daughter of William A. and Olga Jensen along with sisters Ramona (Robert) Arnold of Ellensburg, Washington and Colleen (Jake) Toot of Eugene, Ore. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Mona Arnold and brother in law Jake Toot.

Charlotte married Robert W. Alvey on June 30, 1945, at Calvary Baptist Church in Albert Lea. Bob and Charlotte lived together for 60+ years at 201 E. Netherlands in Hollandale enjoying living, working and appreciating life in the small town walking together hand in hand. Bob and their three children survive her: Larry Alvey of Albert Lea, Christine M. Alvey of Milan, Mich. and Michael R. and Penny Alvey of Austin. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Jed, Clay and Sam and four great grandchildren: Teren, Tehya, Ashly and Lukas along with cousins, nieces and nephews.

Charlotte graduated from Hamilton Business College, Mason City, Iowa. For two years she was bookkeeper for Speltz Coal and Grain Company in Albert Lea. Charlotte then became a full time Mom caring for and enjoying time with her family. She was active in the Hollandale Reformed Church and the Heritage Huis of Hollandale. Charlotte enjoyed talking with and helping people at the Pumpkin Patch in the fall and especially walking through the patch looking for gourds and pumpkins to display. She was a resident of the Good Samaritan Center of Albert Lea at the time of her death. Mom’s life will be remembered and forever celebrated by her family.
