The funeral service for Clinton Adolph Olson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Wayne Halvorson will officiate. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before service at the church. Military Honors Accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations.

Clinton died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls, Minn. He was 85 years old.

Clinton was born in Leith, N.D., on Oct. 30, 1920, to Alfred and Amanda (Christenson) Olson. He helped with the work on the family farm, especially remembering cultivating one hundred acres of corn and making hay with horses. During the Depression, his family moved to Twin Lakes, Minn. He entered the military at age 19 on Oct. 24, 1939. He served as a Squad Leader in the North Africa Campaign, fighting in the Tunisia Battle. It was in this battle that he was wounded and lost part of his left hand for which he received the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the North Africa Campaign Medal and the American Defense Medal.

He married Charlotte (Moller) Knotts in 1951. They had 2 children, Pam and Gordon.

Clinton worked 20 years for the United States Postal Service in Albert Lea.

Clinton was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. His hobbies were playing cards, fishing for bullheads, and watching sports. He liked playing dominoes and telling jokes.

He is survived by daughter Pam (Jim) Linder of Battle Lake, Minn., son Gordon (Ann) Olson of Albert Lea, step daughter Donna (Carl) Saterdal of Elbe, Wash., step daughter-in-law Carolyn (Levad) Knotts of Carbondale, Colo., 14 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Violet Spain of Albert Lea, Cleone Moller of Galesville, Wis. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 40 years, Charlotte, step son Curtiss and by brother Mylo.
