Darrell Lunning, 73, of Albert Lea

The funeral service for Darrell B. Lunning, of 603 Freeborn Ave., Albert Lea, will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. John Bromeland will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by Albert Lea Veteran’s Organizations. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour before the service at the church.

Darrell died on Friday, March 10, 2006, at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 73.

He was born on Aug. 19, 1932, in Winnebago County, Iowa, the son of Buell and Clara (Charlson) Lunning.

He grew up in Lake Mills, Iowa and graduated from Lake Mills High School. Following graduation he in enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served our country from 1952 to 1958.

Darrell had been employed at Universal Tire Warehouse retiring after 25 years.

In his retirement he worked part-time at McDonalds and also did lawn mowing, snow removal

and odd jobs for several.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a life member of the V.F.W.

In his younger years Darrell enjoyed bowling. He was an avid fisherman and also had an interest and talent for oil painting.

He is survived by his wife Carla of Albert Lea, sister Melva Tollagson of Dilworth, Minn., son Joel Lunning of Plymouth, Wis., mother-in-law Margaret Tusen of Albert Lea, sister-in-law Lucille &8220;Tootie&8221; Lunning of Albert Lea, brothers-in-law Dalmar Johnson of Bottineau, N.D., Kevin Johnson of Albert Lea, and a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wallace, Burton and his wife Ruby, brother-in-law Elmer Tollagson, sister Marjorie Hauan, a sister and brother in infancy, sister-in-law Caryn Decker, and father-in-law Carl Tusen, niece Linda Jensen.

Darrell will be greatly missed by all, especially his nieces and nephews who loved him so very much.
