Donald Dean Decker, age 72, of Austin, died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at his home.

Don was born Oct. 24, 1933, in Algona, Iowa to Lawrence and Myrtle (Spurgeon) Decker. The family moved to Minnesota when Don was very young. On July 28, 1961, he was united in marriage to Carol Kay Shawback in Mason City, Iowa. Don was a farmer and a truck driver and lived in the Austin – London area all of his adult life. He retired from JR Johnson Supply Company in 1995 after 21 years.

Survivors include his wife: Carol Decker, Austin; children: Edward (Suzanne) Decker, Grand Meadow, Danniel Decker, Glenville, Christine Rice, Austin, Mark Decker, Farmington, N.M.; seven grandchildren; sisters: Elizabeth (Eugene) Monson, Lakeville, Mary Roy, Rosemount; brother-in-law: Floyd Waletzski, Eyota; many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Myrtle Decker; sisters: Tressa Decker, IvaDell Riggert, Dorthy Waletzski; brother: Edward Decker.

A funeral mass will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2006, at the Church of St. Augustine with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 4 p.m. rosary on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

The casket bearers will be Gary Shawback, Donald Shawback, Leslie Shawback Jr., Charlie Wallace, Arnold Shawback, and Robert Shawback.
