Joseph Ubl, 91, of New Ulm

Joseph &8220;Joe&8221; Ubl, age 91, of New Ulm died Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at the St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Ulm with burial in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Monsignor John A. Richter will celebrate the mass. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home in New Ulm. The St. Joseph’s Catholic Aid Council will pray the rosary at 5:30 p.m. and there will be a parish prayer service at 6:30 p.m. both Friday at the funeral home.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Ruth McCrea Simpson and her husband David of Albert Lea; sons, Jerry Ubl and his wife Maggie of Columbia, Missouri, Joseph Ubl and his wife Kathryn of Albert Lea; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Emma Iverson and Leona Grathwohl, both of New Ulm.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Irene on May 24, 2004; son-in-law, James McCrea; and a brother, Harry Ubl.

Joseph H. Ubl was born June 15, 1914, in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Joseph and Catherine (Warta) Ubl. He was united in marriage to Irene Reinhart on May 17, 1938, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Searles. After marriage they lived in New Ulm where Joe worked as a mechanic at various auto dealerships. He then worked for New Ulm Manufacturing until his retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, the St. Joseph’s Catholic Aid Council, and the Local International Association of Machinists.
