Linda Spande, 87

Funeral services for Linda M. Spande, of Albert Lea, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at the Good Samaritan Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the Chapel. Interment will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery, Mabel, Minn.

Mrs. Spande died Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Good Samaritan Home in Albert Lea. She was 87 years of age.

Linda was born Oct. 3, 1918, in Caledonia, the daughter of Robert M. and Francis P. (Metcalf) Richards. She graduated from Caledonia High School in 1936.

On Aug. 24, 1942, she was united in marriage to Earl A. Spande in Reno, Nev.

Linda lived most of her adult life in Mabel, Minn., and was a very active member of the First Lutheran Church. She enjoyed serving on the altar guild, teaching Sunday school and working with the church women’s group. For the past three years, Linda has been living closer to her family in Albert Lea. Linda loved spending time with her grandchildren, organizing and helping at the church, sewing and cooking for her family.

Linda is survived by her husband Earl of Albert Lea; children, Richard and his wife Beth Spande of Albert Lea, Jane Spande and her husband David Field of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and David and his wife Robin Spande of Owatonna; 10 grandchildren, Peter (Melissa), Nathan (Jennifer), Abby, Aubrey, Katie, Sarah (Matt), Jacob (Sheila), Molly and special friend Nick, Peter and special friend Krystal, and Alison. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren and one brother, Robert and his wife Bernice Richards of Caledonia.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials are preferred to the Good Samaritan Center or Crossroads Community Hospice.
