Lloyd Kenneth Johnson, age 81, of Mankato, formerly of Conger, died on Thursday, March 16, 2006, at his home in Mankato, of natural causes.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger. The Rev. Gary Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be held at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m., and one-hour prior to the service Monday at the church. Interment will be in the Conger Cemetery in Conger.

Lloyd K. Johnson was born Aug. 17, 1924, the son of Rueben and Dora (Schmidt) Johnson in Alden. He grew up in the Alden area, was baptized and confirmed at Redeemer Lutheran Church and graduated from high school there in 1941. He married Bernice Bratsch on Aug. 20, 1949, in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Peter. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1948 spending one year in Japan. He farmed in the Conger area until retiring in 2001. Lloyd and Bernice moved to Mankato in 2005. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Conger where he served on the Council and was an usher, a member of the Elks and Eagles in Albert Lea, member of Polka Lovers Club of America where he and Bernice were King and Queen in 1998-99 and he was the secretary for three years. Lloyd was also a member of the American Legion Post 404 in Conger since 1958. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. His hobbies and accomplishments include polka dancing, playing games on the computer and solving the jumble and cryptoquip games in the Albert Lea Tribune.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Bernice of Mankato; four daughters: Vickie Lynch of Lanesboro, Kathy (Lynn) Waldorf of Warren, Pamela (Edward) Puchtel of Savage, Carolyn (Bob) Kilgore of Lino Lakes; one son: Steven (Lamduan) Johnson of Bloomington; 21 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by two sisters: Eudene (Ellsworth) Behr of Alden, Everall (Merlin) Mason of Boca Raton, Fla.; two brothers: Ralph (Betty) Johnson of Albert Lea and Daryl (Irene) Johnson of Bloomington; one sister-in-law: Millie (Quentin) Heldberg of LeSueur; many nieces and nephews; and close friends Lowell and Evelyn Amundson of Frost.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law Frank Lynch.
