Thomas Eckstrom, 62, of Marion, Iowa

Thomas L. Eckstrom, age 62, of 1880 Hunters Creek Way, Marion, Iowa, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Nebraska Medical Center following a long illness. Services are at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. The Rev. Steve Irwin and Ben Picket will officiate. Burial is in the Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home.

Surviving in addition to his wife Barbara are two sons, Dr. Michael Eckstrom (Nicole) of Albert Lea and Major Daniel Eckstrom (Corie) of Maryville, Ill.; four grandchildren, Francesca, Alexandra, Dominica, and Tommy; and two brothers, Larry Eckstrom (JoAnn) of Menominee Falls, Wis., and Richard Eckstrom (Nancy) of Evans, Ga.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Thomas was born May 5, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wis., the son of Edward and Dorothy Cleaver Eckstrom. He married Barbara DeVeney on April 24, 1965 in Omaha, Neb. Thomas was a manager of information technology at Lefebure for 27 years and following that, was a salesman at American Insurance Group. He was a member of the River of Life Church, was on the board of directors for Western Fraternal Life Insurance for eight years and belonged to Lodge 423 Western Fraternal. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
