Albert Lea loses to JM

ROCHESTER &045;&160;Rain cut short a few matches for the Albert Lea boys’ tennis team, but it didn’t cool Rochester John Marshall down enough.
The Rockets beat the Tigers 4-1 in Big Nine Conference action Thursday.
The No. 1 doubles team of Corey Dieser and Andrew Dyrdal picked up the Tigers’ lone victory.
After the duo dropped the first set 0-6 they rebounded to win 6-2, 6-4.
&8220;They busted out of their funk after they struggled last match,&8221; said Albert Lea head coach Tom Dyrdal.
&8220;They made an adjustment in the second set and fought back to win.&8221;
Philippe Perrin won the first set 6-3of his match at No. 1 singles before dropping the second 1-6.
The third set was stopped by rain at 5-5.
Greg Peterson lost at No. 2 by scores of 0-6, 1-6 while Jon Hatcher fell 5-7 and 3-6.
Jon Bosma rounded out the singles with a 0-6, 0-6 loss.
Josh Vu and Josh Svendsen dropped their match 2-6, 2-6 at No. 2 doubles and Scott Strom and
Mike Bosma won the first set 6-4, lost the second 4-6 and the rain halted the third at 1-1 at No. 3 doubles.
&8220;Philippe played well despite still not being completely healthy, and Greg has lost his last couple matches, but he is playing well against tough competition,&8221; said coach Dyrdal.
The Tiger junior varsity won 9-2.
Winning matches were Dan Howard, Scott Johnson, Jake Williams, Levi Peterson, Geoffrey Cope, Evan Nolander, Drew Passingham, Ben Robinson, Joe Polis, Eric Volkman, Jake Thompson, Kevin Zogg and Sean Templeman.
