Austin downs Tigers by 7

AUSTIN &045;&160;The Austin boys’ golf team was able to slip past Albert Lea 351-358 in a Big Nine meet Tuesday.

The Tigers, who had beaten the Packers at a tournament recently, could not find the answers on Austin’s home course.

&8220;We just did not shoot all that well today,&8221; said Albert Lea head coach Riley Worth.

Drew Klick led the way for Albert Lea shooting an 86 to record the low round for the Tigers.

Alex Lair and Tyler Brackey each had scores of 90 and Mike Larson shot 92 to round out the top four.

Jared Bowman also carded a 94 for the Tigers.

Austin was led by medalist Drew Osier who fired a round of 84 while Garret Christad added an 88.

James Thorson shot 89 and Nick Taber added a 90.

The Albert Lea junior varsity finished the day with some better results as it did win its dual against Austin.

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday when they travel to face Fairmont and are back in Albert Lea Thursday for a Big Nine triangular.
