Fairmont downs USC

WELLS &045; Big innings in both the fifth and the sixth helped to carry Fairmont over United South Central, 10-6.

Fairmont scored three times in the fifth and added five more one inning later as it batted around.

The Rebels took an early 2-1 lead in the second inning as Scott Robbins and Taylor Herman crossed home plate.

Luke Beyer would be driven in by Cassidy Carlson an inning later and USC plated three more runs in the fourth but that is the last offense it would be able to generate.

Six different players accounted for USC’s six hits in the game.

Derek Schmidt started on the mount lasting four inning and giving up five runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking three.

Fairmont would pound out 10 hits against four different USC pitchers in the game.

The Rebels are back in action Monday when they host Waseca.
