ST. JAMES &045;&160;The United South Central boys’ and girls’ track teams each had a good day at the St James Invitational
last Tuesday.
The girls came away with a first place finish in their competition with a 12 point win over highly touted Cedar Mountain in the six-team invitational.
Cedar Mountain has been Class A True Team Champions for the past two years. The Rebels were paced by five first place finishes.
Becca Bryson in the triple jump,
Rebecca Leland in the 800, Jamie Klein was a double-winner taking first in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
The 4×400 team of Bryson, Leland,
Holly Theede and
Ciara Christenson
led the way in that event, turning in
a very respectable 4:15.4.
Depth and balance was again the key for the boys as they won their competition.
Although they managed only two first place finishes, the Knights came away with a 16-point margin of victory over Blue Earth Area.
Brad Tomschin won the 800 in a very respectable 2:02, while the 4×4 quartet of
Alex Ramaker, Brian Hauge,
Jacob Elmer and Tomschin turned in an equally respectable 3:33 to take that event.
&8220;The weather was perfect for a track meet,&8221; said USC/AC head coach Kent Viesselman, &8220;and the kids responded with some excellent
early-season performances.&8221;
