GRANADA &045;&160;The warmer weather suited the Alden-Conger baseball team just fine as the Knights pounded out 17 hits in an 11-3 victory over GHECML.
Greg Upseth clobbered a three-run home run in the third inning and three straight singles and a three RBI double by Jordan Montes keyed a four-run fourth inning.
&8220;We got production from everyone in our lineup,&8221; said A-C head coach Faron Bremseth.
&8220;Everyone in our lineup except for three kids had a hit.
It was a lot of fun.&8221;
Mitchell Kleinschrodt, Ross Hemmingsen, Matt Bremseth, Upseth and Montes all had multi-hit games for the Knights with Kleinschrodt and Upseth recording three hits apiece.
Coach Bremseth was particularly pleased with the bottom of his lineup which came through with big two out hits allowing the Knights to score seven runs combined in the fifth and sixth frames.
With the offense humming along, Matt Bremseth did his job on the mound allowing just four hits in seven innings.
He struck out 12 and walked just one.
&8220;He was in control all night and hit his spots,&8221; said coach Bremseth.
&8220;(Catcher) Ross Hemmingsen and Matt were in control the entire game.&8221;
GHECML was able to score all three of its runs with two outs in the third inning, but that is all the offense it would muster on the night.
The victory evened the Knights’ record at 1-1 on the season as it prepares for a Friday game against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Genenva at the Metrodome.
