MONTGOMERY &045;&160;Four wins in her first meet let everyone know that NRHEG’s Alison Anderson was going to be a force this year.

However, Heather Schmit and Alyssa Kerkhoff are now proving the Panthers are much more than a one-runner show.

Schmit won the 200 at the Montgomery-Lonsdale Redbird Invite over the weekend while Kerkhoff dominated the 400.

Schmit won in a time of 27.56 while Kerkhoff ran a 1:03.49.

&8220;Heather Schmit is starting to open some eyes to how good of a track athlete she is,&8221; said NRHEG co-head coach Duey Ferber. &8220;Alyssa Kerkhoff is fearless in the 400, she keeps getting better every time she runs it.&8221;

Those efforts helped lead the Panthers to a second place finish behind Belle Plaine Holy Family.

The Panthers 4×200 relay team of Hillary Johnson, Bryanna Anthony, Tatum Wacholz and Kerkhoff finished as the runner-up in 1:54.85.

Megan Groskreutz finished third in the pole vault clearing 8 feet, while Schmit was third in both the 100 high hurdles (18.01) and the 300 low hurdles (50.27).

The NRHEG 4×100 also took third in 54.68.

Kyree Wobbrock was fourth in the shot put with an effort of 32’10&8221; and Krystle Lonning did the same in the discus with a throw of 99 feet, 2 inches.

The boys’ team finished eighth getting a first, second and third from Blake Kerkhoff.

He won the 400 running a 52.0, took the runner-up spot in the 200 with a mark of 23.7 and was third in the 100 at 11.6.

&8220;Blake had a very good meet,&8221; said Ferber. &8220;He was close to the Panther record in the 200 and 400.&8221;

The 4×100 team of of Orrie Anthony, Greg Ramaker, Alexander Nicolay and Zac Swanson finished third in 49.1, while David Lindell and Tim Rysavy took fifth in the 110 high hurdles and the 800, respectively.
