WINONA &045;&160;The Albert Lea baseball team didn’t have a problem putting the bat on the ball, but it couldn’t slow down Winona from doing it either.

The Winhawks gave the Tigers (3-1) their first loss of the season 11-7 Thursday.

Winona scored five first inning runs off Josh Jordahl as the Tigers, who had played errorless ball the previous two games, committed five errors in the game.

&8220;We didn’t give our pitchers a lot of help and gave them some big innings,&8221; said AL head coach Joe Sczublewski.

The Tigers scored four times in the third highlighted by Ben Berhow’s two RBI double.

Albert Lea would score three more runs in the third, but it also left the bases loaded as it tried to rally late.

Nick Bunz led the Tiger offense with three hits, Berhow added two and Arik Matson, D.J. Kjos, Taylor Ignaszewski, and Matt Friedman all had one base knock.

Albert Lea is back in action Tuesday when it travels to Austin.
