Tigers victorious in triangular

HAYFIELD &045; The Albert Lea boys’ golf team didn’t let a little weather slow it down Friday easily winning a non-conference triangular in Hayfield.

The Tigers shot 164 in the nine-hole event to take the top spot by 12 strokes over Fairmont while host Hayfield was third with 180.

Jared Bowman led the Tigers shooting an even par round of 36. Bowman just missed an eagle putt earlier in the round and entered the final hole two under before settling for his final score.

Tyler Brackey also shot under 40 recording a 39 on the day and Drew Klick added a 44.

Both Jesse Tovar and Mike Larson carded 45s and Alex Lair rounded out the Albert Lea varsity with a 48.

The Tiger junior varsity was also a winner in the triangular led by co-medalist Cody Anderson.

Albert Lea is back in action Tuesday when it plays at Fairmont before returning to conference play Thursday when it hosts Faribault and John Marshall in another triangular.
