A-C shoots well, comes up just short

FREEBORN &045;&160;The Alden-Conger girls’ golf team finished third in a triangular at Oakview Golf Course while the boys finished second to Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton.

Jackie Ausen led the Knights taking medalist honors with a 55 as A-C shot 269. Nicollet won the triangular with a 246 and JWP shot 249.

&8220;Jackie has been shooting well and we are excited about the way she is going,&8221; said A-C head coach Jon Jahnke. &8220;Our conference meet is Monday and I know she wants to make all-conference.&8221;

Katie Hallman shot a 64 while Dani Jensen and Kari Troska both fired 75s.

The boys’ squad shot a 190 for A-C and J-W-P fired back with a 180.

led the way for the Knights with a 42 and Sam Hallman was right behind him with a 43. Chad Peterson carded a 50, Joey Larson added a 55, Eric Wessling shot 60 and Blake Peterson rounded out the varsity with a 65.

&8220;Nick and Sam shot well in some tough conditions,&8221; said Jahnke. &8220;We have a triangular tomorrow and I know the boys are looking to head into conference on a strong note.&8221;
