Clarence Eggers, of Owatonna

Clarence Paul Eggers Sr. of Owatonna died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at Infinia in Owatonna.

He was born Aug. 25, 1911, in Meriden Township, to Fred and Alma (Fette) Eggers. He was baptized Nov. 8, 1913, and confirmed April 5, 1925, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Meriden.

He married Alice Hilda Dinse on July 20, 1932, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Owatonna. To this union seven children were born. They farmed near Ellendale until October 1959. They moved to Owatonna where he was custodian for 14 years at St. John’s Church until retirement in 1973. He also did part-time work until fully retiring in 1980. They sold their home and moved to an apartment in Owatonna in 1997.

Clarence was active in church and a member of the board of education for the Ellendale Public Schools for 12 years. He loved to dance, play cards, and his family was always important to him.

Clarence is survived by his wife Alice; children Clarence Jr. and LaVonne Eggers of Albert Lea, Beverly and Marvin Meixner of Owatonna, Margie and Lyle DeBower of Decorah, Iowa, Dolores and Vern Sundem of Minneapolis, Eleanor and Ralph Wangen of Albert Lea, Phyllis and William Stransky of Cleveland, Minn., Patty Eggers of Owatonna; numerous grandchildren, great- and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by

his parents; one grandson; one great-grandson; two brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home and Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. Services will be Thursday, May 25, at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Owatonna. The Rev. Arne Jessen will officiate. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
