Funeral services for Ernestine &8220;Chris&8221; McColley will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Revs. George Marin, Peter Soli and David Hernes will officiate. Interment will be in the Alden Cemetery. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Chris died unexpectedly on Thursday, May 25, 2006, at the Albert Lea Medical Center.

Chris McColley was born June 28, 1939, to Ernest and Lura Belle (Berkley) Bielss in Whittier, Calif. She was married Aug. 31, 1956, in Whittier, Calif., and later divorced. Chris moved from California to Alden in 1974. She was employed as a detox specialist and counselor at Fountain Centers for 26 years, where she touched many lives. Chris enjoyed working on crafts, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the AA Day-By-Day Society and older adult group.

Survivors include her children: sons, Steve and wife, Cindy Kearney of Lakewood, Colo., and Mike and wife, Sharon Kearney of Whittier, Calif., and daughter, Sheri and husband, Kevin Opseth of Alden; grandchildren: Chris, Greg, and Dan Opseth of Alden, Arlie, Kiel, and Brad Kearney of Whittier, Calif., Melanie and Nathan Kearney of Lakewood, Colo., and Kristiana and husband, Lynn Southerland of Jacksonville, Ark.; and great-grandchildren, Tyler and Tiffany Southerland.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents; beloved brother and friend, Don Bielss; and aunt and uncle, Annie and Arlie McBee.
