Fred Hanson, 84

The funeral service for Fred H. Hanson will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Bonnerup Funeral Chapel in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea veterans organizations.
Fred died on Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at St. Marys Hospital, Rochester. He was 84 years old.
Fred was born in Albert Lea, on May 14, 1921, the youngest of four children born to Fred and Helena (Herold) Hanson. Fred was a 1938 graduate of Albert Lea High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 to 1946.
On Dec. 20, 1944, Fred was united in marriage with Phyllis J. Brechbiel in the First Presbyterian Church, Albert Lea. While his son, Larry was in Cub Scouts, Fred was an assistant Cub Scout den master. He was employed by Rilco Laminated Products, which became the Weyerhaeuser Co, for 36 years.
Fred is survived by his son, Larry Hanson of Owatonna; niece, Mary Jane Behrns of Waldorf; two nephews: Patrick M. Lennon of Owatonna,
and Tom Tweed of New York and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis in 2005; two sisters: Marvyl Tweed and Myrl Hanson; and one brother, John Hanson.
