G-E finishes in first place tie, advances no one to sections

It was something that even Glenville-Emmons head coach Craig Rayman had not seen in his 20-plus years of coaching.

Rayman’s Wolverines tied for first place with Blooming Prairie at the sub-section in Stewartville but lost out in the tiebreaker by five strokes.

That small deficit kept the G-E team from advancing to sections, and no Wolverine individual moved on with their score either.

The Wolverines shot a 364 as a team led by Luke Klingson and Josh Adams who both recorded rounds of 90. Jarrad Knutson shot a 91 and Devin Yost rounded out the top four with a 93.

The cutoff to advance to the section meet as an individual was 87.

&8220;It was a very tough course and some of the greens were really hard but everyone had to play the same course,&8221; said Rayman. &8220;It is just something that is hard to believe.&8221;

The result was a stark contrast from this past Friday where the Wolverines won the conference meet shooting a 362.

Klingson and Knutson led the way with an 84 and 88, respectively.

G-E will have to wait until later today when Lyle/Pacelli and Lanesboro make up their dual meet to see where it finishes in the conference standings.
