Hamilton Hanson, 89, Albert Lea

The funeral service for Hamilton &8220;Bob&8221; Peter Hanson, of 1201 Garfield, Albert Lea, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Mr. Hanson died on Tuesday morning, May 30, 2006, at Albert Lea Medical Center. He was 89.

He was born on July 29, 1916, in Myrtle, the son of Peter B. and Minnie (Steene) Hanson.

He attended school in Myrtle. He worked for several years on the family farm and business. On June 16, 1939, he married Sarah Marie Hanson in Northwood, Iowa. After their marriage they lived in the Albert Lea area and &8220;Bob&8221; worked for Wilson and Co. from 1941 until retiring in 1978. Following retirement he enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He had lived the past three years at ThorneCrest Retirement Center.

He was a very kind and gentleman and because of his wife’s failing health, he faithfully cared for her for more than 20 years.

Hamilton is survived by two children: David Hanson and his wife Deloris of Elk River, Sandra Roelofs and her husband Gary of Edina, grandchildren: Lori and her husband Scott Peterson of Elk River, Stacia and her husband Tom Smith of Plymouth, Shelly and her husband Brooks Larson of Lakeville, Mike Roelofs and his wife Kimberly of Apple Valley, great-grandchildren Andrea and Jordan Peterson of Elk River, Chanel Smith of Plymouth, A. J. and Ben Larson of Lakeville, Taylor and Reagan Marie Roelofs of Apple Valley; brother-in-law Vernon Hanson and his wife Rhoda of Detroit Lakes; sisters-in-law Ione Hanson of Albert Lea and Betty Hanson of Albert Lea; several nieces and nephews; and his special neighbors, Harold and Lois Brandt, who befriended him and watched over him so he could stay in his home until he was 86.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sarah in 1993, and sisters Fern Flanagan and his twin Beatrice Christenson.
