Helen Hurla, 95, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Helen C. Hurla, age 95, of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 22, at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. Jim Berning and Deacon Mike Ellis will officiate. Interment will be in St. Theodore’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the Church.
Helen died Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Helen Clara Hurla was born Aug. 19, 1910, to John and Margaret (Buchtela) Bisinger in Wyoming, Iowa. On May 15, 1937, she was united in marriage to Joseph Hurla in Oxford Junction, Iowa. The couple moved to Albert Lea in 1955. Helen had been employed at Albert Lea Electric Fence, Larson Windows, and Stevenson’s. She was a member of the Church of St. Theodore and a life member of the Elks. Helen enjoyed traveling, flower gardening, and watching the many kinds of birds that were fed in her back yard.
Survivors include her son, John and his wife Doris (Jacobson) Hurla; grandson, Michael Hurla; granddaughter, Gail and her husband, Mark Kreger; great-granddaughter, Miranda Kreger; brother, Otto and his wife, Marion Bisinger; sister-in-law, Phyllis Bisinger; and many nieces and nephews.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and her brother, Arnold Bisinger.
