Mabel Carlsen, 72, of Albert Lea

Funeral services for Mabel R. Carlsen, age 72, of Albert Lea, will be at 2 p.m. Friday, June 2, at First Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in the Clarks Grove Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church.

Mabel died Monday, May 29, 2006, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Home, where she had resided for the past five months, after battling cancer.

Mabel Rita Carlsen was born April 3, 1934, to Maurice and Clara (Danielsen) Price. She attended school in Austin. On Dec. 23, 1959, she was united in marriage to Marvin Carlsen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Mabel worked as a waitress at various places in Albert Lea and at Land O’ Lakes before retiring because of health reasons in 1984. She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary, the Humane Society, and First Lutheran Church.

Survivors include her daughter, Debra (Laurie) Sather of Albert Lea and their children: Rozamond Sather of Minneapolis, Myia (Ricky) Young of Phoenix, Ariz., and Tristan Sather (Jenny Christensen) of Albert Lea; sister, Dorothy Ellison of Austin; step-son, Alan (Peggy) Palmer of Northwood, Iowa, and their children: Monica Palmer and fianc, Christopher Heino of Minneapolis, Samantha (Lonnie) Davis and their daughter, McKenzie of Northwood, Iowa, and Blake Palmer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a very special aunt and uncle, Agnes and Art Ernest of Austin; sisters and brothers-in-law: Lorriane (Ray) Severson of Clarks Grove, Lucy (Corky) Hagen of Alabama, Larry (Karen) Carlsen of Clarks Grove, Carol Carlsen of Madrid, Iowa, Howard (Mary) Carlsen of Spicer, Minn., Dale and (Sandy) Carlsen of Rome, Georgia, and Dianne (John) Henline of Texarkana, Texas. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and her beloved pet kitty, &8220;Binky.&8221;

Mabel was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin in 2000; sister-in-law, Audrey Carlsen, and brother-in-law, Lowell Carlsen.

Memorials to Peace and Power or Crossroads Community Hospice are preferred.

Mabel is now on a fantastic journey with her Lord. Blessed be her memory!
