Marvin Campbell, 87, of Brainerd

Marvin Roy Campbell, age 87, of Brainerd, passed away Friday, May 19, 2006, at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis Catholic Church. Interment with military honors was at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Camp Ripley.

Marvin was born in Grafton, N.D., moved to Crookston, Minn. and then to Brainerd in 1971. He served as President of the Brainerd Bremer Bank until his retirement in 1983, after 40 years with the Bremer Corporation. He was very proud of his service to his country in WW II, receiving two Bronze Stars and retiring the rank of lieutenant colonel. He was president of the Minnesota Bankers Association, as well as being on the state college boards of St. Scholastica, Central Lakes College and the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Marvin had a passion for serving his community and was recognized as Brainerd Citizen of the Year in 1975. He received an honorary doctorate degree from St. Scholostica in 1992.

Marvin will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou; his 12 children (including Collette Turcotte of Albert Lea), 26 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
