Panthers pound J-W-P, 18-1 in five

JANESVILLE &045;&160;Pitching, hitting and defense combined to form the perfect storm for the NRHEG baseball team as it blew past Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, 18-1.

The Panthers racked up 17 hits in five innings including two doubles and three triples. NRHEG scored in every inning and got a strong pitching performance from Josh Churchill.

Churchill threw a two-hitter past J-W-P striking out five and walking three.

Tory Somage led the Panthers going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and he also drove in a pair. Joe McGuire had a three hit day, while Josh Churchill and Dakota Tracy each added a pair of hits.

Ben Burshem had a big two run single in the second inning to help begin the blowout for NRHEG.

NRHEG’s biggest inning came in the fourth when it sent 14 batters to the plate and scored nine runs.

The Panthers concluded the Gopher Conference season with a 10-1 mark and a 13-3 record overall.

NRHEG was back in action last night against Rochester Lourdes.
