Phyllis Coyle, 81, Wells

Phyllis Dolores Coyle, age 81, of Wells, died Saturday, May 13, 2006, at Immanuel – St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 16, 2006, at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, with Pastor Meg Sander officiating. Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Bruss – Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Burial will be held at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells.

Phyllis D. Coyle was born May 24, 1924, the daughter of Christ and Lydia (Niebuhr) Beckmann in Wells. She graduated as valedictorian from Wells High School in 1941. She had been employed at Anderson Lumber Yard in Wells. She married Eldon Coyle on Oct. 19, 1946, at First Lutheran Church in Wells. She worked as a secretary at Wells School and at People’s State Bank as a cashier. She was also church organist and church secretary at First Lutheran Church in Wells.

She was a current member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and active in her church circle. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, playing cards, cooking and baking orange rolls and rosettes and watching Twins baseball. Her greatest enjoyment was her grandchildren and attending their sporting and musical events.

Phyllis is survived by her husband Eldon Coyle of Wells; daughter Dolores and husband Roger Stelter of Waseca and their children Laura and husband Stephen Lee of Seymour, Ind., Anna Stelter of Mankato, Sarah and husband Jesse Wilder of Rochester, Brenda Stelter of Mankato; son Duane and wife Michelle Coyle of Byron, and step-children Melissa Scrabeck of Detroit, Mich., Paul Scrabeck of Minneapolis, John Scrabeck of St. Paul; two great-grandchildren: Hannah Wilder of Rochester and Noah Lee of Seymour, Ind.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Christ and Lydia Beckmann, three brothers Roger, Norbert and Eldo Beckmann.
